Data Entry Tips
When entering data, try to think of the usage of the data as it is queried. If you create a new category, it must have, or potentially have, enough members of the category to be useful. If you don't think that you can put at least 50 persons into a category, then don't make a category. If you're wrong and you don't make a category and there are 50+ persons with an attribute, we can make a category later, but if you do make a category and it doesn't get enough members, it junks it up.
Contact Info
Duplicate: If you find two voters that you think are duplicates, select "Duplicate" and put the voter id of the OTHER voter in the field for the current voter and vice-versa.
Recruit: If you find someone who you think might be recruited for public office, put some comments in "Recruit".
Employer
Don't go wild creating new categories for private employers. Employer->Intel is fine. For public employers, there is a pretty good tree of possibilities.
Membership
This is where you put membership in activist organizations (PETA, Sierra Club, etc.) as well as Veterans.
Non-Political Activity
You shouldn't really use this. This is for imported lists.
Notes
Anything that doesn't fit or needs to be noted. Don't make subcategories of this.
Occupation
Don't make sub-categories here unless you have LOTS of members of the category.
Policy Opinion
Search the catalog before making a new entry. If recording opinions on legislation use the usual format.
Policy opinion is pretty tricky.
Political Activity
Mostly attendace at events
Public Official
In addition to actual elected officials, you can put appointed persons here (i.e. appointed to a commission), PCPs for political parties and candidates who did not get elected.
